As I started my on-the-job training in Concipio Tektura, it made me realized how it is important to choose a good architectural firm or design studio for your on-the-job training. I made the right choice. Concipio Tektura exposes its trainees into different fields of tasks. I thought we would be given more of CAD works but we were introduced in a more hands-on project related to project management which is a big factor us as we enter the real field of Architecture.
The first task that was given to me is the coDesign video. This task turn a little bit challenging to me since this is my first time to make a video presentation. I immediately started my task by making a script. I wanted to immediately send an update to my mentor so I exerted extra effort to learn how Filmora is used.Every now and then, I keep on sending progress and mistakes that we made were guided and corrected by our mentor until I have fully made the video well done.
During the site visit, I was able to recognize how the architects and engineers treat their laborers. Respect is very important in the site. We were able to witness how the construction is being done. This shows that you cannot learn Architecture through books; you must also learn how everything is done in an actual site. Knowing the terms and definitions about architecture is nothing if you don’t know how to apply it in actual.
After I made the coDesign video, I was assigned to look for suppliers of one of the projects of Concipio Tektura. I send request of quotation to the suppliers through e-mails, making phone calls to verbally follow up them and when there are further questions regarding the project, doing Bill of Quantities and Bid tabulation. This is my first time to do these tasks and I’m glad that our mentor accompanied us whenever I have questions. I am so eager to learn with every experience I have encountered in Concipio Tektura. I was able to experience the Spirit of Real Architecture and the essence of being an architect.
It was a great opportunity to experience these projects of Concipio Tektura. Even though the tasks were very new to me, I was challenged to learn new skills and experienced dealing with other people as what is done in the field of Architecture. I am glad that we had a mentor, Sir Eric Baño who supervised our works from time to time. Every minute we spent together, between the talks is the knowledge that we can keep. I would like to thank Concipio Tektura for imparting your knowledge with us.
Thank you for letting me be an apprentice of Concipio Tektura
