And so at the first week after being given the work, I started researching about ways to take quality videos - what are the best camera angles, how to film certain sceneries, film techniques and in-camera transitions, and much more. I also researched how to use Adobe Premiere Pro and video editing techniques to make my idea become a reality.
Videography was only just a measly hobby for me, an amateur at best, but was always curious of the craft. It was then at Concipio Tektura was I given an opportunity to really put my hobby to the test and make a video about Mobile Instant Messaging Apps being used as a way to communicate and manage interns digitally for interior 3D visualizations projects. Truly was it a non-traditional work from a non-traditional architectural firm, I was surprised but glad to be able to have a chance to enhance other relevant skills as a future architect. © Concipio Tektura Architectural Design Studio At the moment the work was given, I immediately had an idea of what the video would look like, the only problem was ‘How was I going to make it?’. I wanted the text bubbles to appear on the video like a preview of what the conversation between the architect/project manager and the intern is like while a 3rd person perspective of the interaction is also seen. As an amateur at Videography, I wanted to take remotely quality videos at the very least. The video editing took the most time in doing since I wasn’t used to using Adobe Premiere Pro. Having done the voice-over as well was also new to me since I’ve never done one. © Concipio Tektura Architectural Design Studio While doing the video, I learned a lot about Videography but also how project management is done through digital means of communication. Only now have I witnessed such a way of managing employees and was astonished on how it actually works and is convenient to both parties. As technology advances, modern problems require modern solutions. And through this method of communicating and managing work, it becomes convenient but is still efficient in quality. I am thankful for my mentor giving me this opportunity to enhance my skills in Videography and be exposed to this modern way of project management. I realized then that being an architect is so much more than being good at design and drawing, it is a job that requires you to be well exposed to everything - project management, business, construction, finance, etc. And with that, I look forward to learning more aspects of architecture that is not learned in school through my mentor.

© Concipio Tektura Architectural Design Studio While on the seventh week of our internship, we were given the chance to witness an actual client meeting together with other architects, engineers, suppliers and contractors involved in the project. I learned how different professions work in harmony to produce a quality of work in a restricted amount of time. We met other engineers who work as project managers and gave us advice while having a quick tour around the site. He mentioned how connections and relationships with our co-workers are important to our profession, and respecting laborers as much as other professions are important in the workplace. © Concipio Tektura Architectural Design Studio After a few weeks of working, I was given an opportunity to work on an on-going project and design the Guest bedroom and Children’s bedroom. In this task, I was able to apply the knowledge and skills that I have gained from architecture school. While working on the project, I have become more aware of the materials used for designing and constructing furniture and other cabinets and its mechanisms. In the process, I had the chance to review the standards of designing ergonomic furniture and learn how to construct it. After designing the bedrooms, we were tasked to render each view of the bedrooms to software called Vray, Using this rendering software for the first time was a very frustrating moment, knowing that only a few people use it in my school. But it was a great experience to learn new skills to improve the quality of work that we produce. It was a great opportunity to work on a project wherein the clients are involved in designing the living spaces in their house. The feeling of being able to influence the thoughts and soon to be the experience of the clients through our proposed designs was very gratifying and for that, I am very thankful for my mentor. |
