VIDEO PRODUCTION Video production was the first task that I had to work on as an apprentice in Concipio Tektura. When the task was given to me, I was confused because I don’t know how this skill would help me as an architect in the future. But as the principal architect, Ar. Baño, explained to us the importance of little tasks. That if you are able to handle the smallest jobs with grace and professionalism then you are most likely to be able to handle the biggest tasks as well. From then on, I worked on the Video production as if my life depended on it. | © Concipio Tektura Architectural Design Studio |
As an architecture student, I didn’t have any exposure on what an architect really does in the real world. When I joined as an apprentice in Concipio Tektura, that was when my knowledge about the profession expanded. The principal architect, Ar. Baño took us on a field work in Mamplasan, Laguna. There I discovered that the principal architect was the Project Manager of the project. I questioned it at first but in the end, I appreciated the work very well. A project manager is also a big responsibility as they are the ones who will over look the project of their client. They value their client’s time, cost and. They also mitigate the risks of the project. Lessening any casualties and excesses in materials or cost.
I also appreciate that we were given the opportunity to watch the general meeting of the professionals involved in the project. We observed the different people collaborating in order to complete a project. There were arguments here and there but at the end of the day all of them are working together for the betterment of the project. It was also surprising to see that even if the building is under construction already there still revisions and changes happening on the spot. And it was nice to see that these professionals are able to agree and disagree properly on the things that matter in the project.
The trip to Mamplasan, Laguna was very life changing indeed. It made me realize that the drawings and the renderings are just first steps of the actual job. The next steps are the ones that I am eager to learn along the way and I’m lucky enough to learn a part of it during my apprenticeship in Concipio Tektura.
